The Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD is now available for order on the company’s website. It costs $35,000 after federal EV tax credits.
Tesla is now selling a version of its popular Model 3 that costs less than $35,000. The trim is the Long Range RWD, offering more than 360 miles of driving range, according to an X (formerly Twitter) post by Tesla North America:
After applying the federal electric vehicle tax credit, the new model is $4,000 cheaper than the RWD option. This means it is now Tesla's least expensive car.
In terms of performance, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD has a driving range of 363 miles with 18-inch Photon wheels, according to EPA estimates. It has a maximum speed of 125 mph and can accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in 4.9 seconds.
Meanwhile, Tesla is marketing the new version as an under $30,000 EV. The company arrives at the price point by subtracting an estimated $5,000 in gas savings in five years of ownership, meaning the sedan sells for $29,999.
The new configuration has the new Highland updates, which Tesla released in the US earlier this year. The refresh introduced new front styling featuring a new grille area, slimmer headlights, new wheel designs, and refreshed taillights. Some internal updates include a quieter cabin, cooled front seats, dual wireless device charging, a new 8-inch screen for backseat passengers, etc.
The new Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD may soon hit the road as some deliveries are slated for July and August.
The Model 3 used to be Tesla’s bestselling EV but has now lost that crown to the Model Y.
The electric SUV can now be ordered in the Quicksilver paint option across all its trims in the US and Canada. The color has proven to be sought-after by Tesla buyers, and the company has now reacted by making it available for any version of the Model Y.
Previously, the Quicksilver paint option was only available for the Long Range AWD and Performance versions. The paint was first released in October 2022 alongside the Midnight Cherry Red color. Initially, only the Model Y manufactured at Giga Berlin offered the two paint options, where Tesla installed the first upgraded paint shop.
The state-of-the-art paint shop sprays about 13 layers of paint to achieve the premium color, which changes based on the viewing angle.
Buyers fascinated by Quicksilver and Midnight Cherry Red had to pay a pretty penny. The former color option initially added a significant €3,000 to the car's costs, whereas other premium colors cost €2,000. However, the price of the Quicksilver paint option has now been reduced to $2,000 on Tesla’s website.
The Quicksilver color is a worthy successor to the Silver Metallic color of the first-gen Model 3, one of the earliest and most sought-after paint options. Many customers saddened to see the option discontinued would be comforted by Tesla's decision to make the former option now available to all Model 3 buyers.
